Hi all,
Just a quick question regarding renaming your filters. The problem I’m having is when i go to the filter I press on properties it’s just giving a com port selection. I’ve no way of renaming the filters from filter 1 filter 2 and so on. I’ve attached some photos below any
recommendations would be fantastic.

Re: Adding Filter Names
Hi,
the filter names are stored, edited and provided by the ASCOM driver for your filter wheel device (exception: some cameras from for example QHY have built in filter wheels - in those cases, SharpCap handles everything including filter names with no ASCOM driver).
Anyway, the fact that the filternames come from the ASCOM driver mean that usually you will see the ability to change those names in the window that pops up when you press the 'Setup' button to the right of the filter list - that window is provided by the ASCOM driver. Sometimes you will find that window doesn't have much of use in it, but there is perhaps a separate application that you install from the filter wheel manufacturer - in that case, check that application to see if it will allow you to set the filter names.
Once you have managed to set the filter names in the ASCOM driver setup or the filter wheel application, they should show up in SharpCap the next time. The fact that you are seeing 'Filter 1' etc, means that SharpCap is most likely getting back blank filter names from the ASCOM driver and is putting in default 'Filter 1' etc values.
hope this helps,
Robin
