QHY cameras issue with down loading the first image

Post by maalmela »

Long time ago since I noticed the first image to be downloaded with a QHY camera doesn't download and the system tries to get another image more. Once the system reach to download the image then the system can start to download the next series of images. It isn't a problem with short exposure images but it's annoying with long exposure ones.

What model of camera do you have? I have two QHYs, (a 168c and a 600m), and don't have that problem...

Hi,

I think this is the QHY software SDK having an internal queue where for some reason it keeps an extra image, so the latest image from the camera goes into the queue and the one before that is sent to SharpCap. That doesn't really show up for short exposures, but does with long exposures.

The way to get around this is to set the 'Force Still Mode' option in the controls on the right to 'On'. With a lot of camera models I do this sort of thing transparently as the exposure changes (typically video mode below 2s, still mode above), but it's impossible to do that with QHY as the still mode/video mode changeover actually changes the resolution of the camera by 10 or 20 pixels in each direction for a lot of models :(

cheers,

Robin

Thank you all for your reponses. I will try the "still mode". The cameras I have are 174 MM and 294 MM.
