sharpcap won't connect to cpwi

Post by ndindy »

Howdy,
I have a celestron 6se with the nexstar se mount. I have loaded cpwi successfully and can control the mount through it. However I can't get sharpcap to load/run the mount through cpwi. I think I have loaded (again) the right drivers since I can control through cpwi. But when I load sharpcap I get the attached screen/error.

download/file.php?id=11832

is there a dummies walkthrough on ow to make this work? I'm looking forward to being able to platesolve and automate a little bit.

Hi

Strange
I regularly use CPWI with Sharpcap, and it works great.

I'm not sure if you used it all the time and now it's not working, or if this is your first time connecting them together....

You should also provide as much information as possible to anyone you ask for help, such as your operating system, Ascom version, CPWI version, Sharpcap version, and the settings you've made for the Ascom driver and Sharpcap.

How do you think it's possible to help you without this information?

Hi,

the SharpCap log should contain more information about why this isn't working, so after trying, go to the Help menu, choose 'Show Log' and then grab the last 200 lines or so and post them here for me to investigate.

Or... given the error, there are a few things to try

1) Make sure your version of SharpCap is up to date (latest from our download page)
2) Make sure you have the latest version of the ASCOM platform installed (very old versions can cause issues)
3) Uninstall then reinstall CPWI - sometimes the settings around an ASCOM driver can get messed up and a reinstall usually resolves the issue.

cheers,

Robin
