Hello!
I'm having a problem with the image display from my SV105C camera.
As soon as I use a cable longer than 3 meters, the image doesn't appear in SharpCap (the latest version).
I checked with another program called OBS Studio, and I get an image with my camera. With the 4-meter cable?
If I use the original cable, I get an image in SharpCap, but since I have two very long Newtonian telescopes, I have to use a 4-meter cable, which works elsewhere but not with SharpCap?
Jean Mario.
Why a long cable doesn't work with Sharpcap ?

Re: Why a long cable doesn't work with Sharpcap ?
It's been a couple years since I last did it so the details as I remember it are a little vague, but I had a 100 foot long CAT5 cable running from my laptop computer outside next to my telescope running into the house. With some free software I was able to remote-desktop into the laptop from the warmth of my home office.
After rereading your post are you saying that the distance from your camera to the ground exceeds four feet? In that case, I would put a Single-Board-Computer atop your telescope next to your camera to keep the USB cable short, then run a CAT5 cable from the SBC to wherever you want to go.

Jean,
I bought this 5m repeater usb3 cable from amazon. I run a 533 camera a guidescope camera and auto focuser on the connection at the same time

Hi
from Alixpress 5 meter
https://it.aliexpress.com/item/1005005288384121.html
EUR 7,42
I've been using it for a year; connect the ASI294 or ASI533 and focuser and filter wheel.

Hi,
I’ve never used the SV105C, but are the drivers up to date?
If both SharpCap and the drivers are up to date, the issue is most likely related to the cable connection or signal attenuation caused by a long cable.
Using an active USB 3 repeater cable that can supply power through the cable itself can work up to about 5 meters,
but I wouldn’t really recommend it.
To make it work reliably, you’d need to pay extra attention to cable routing, noise suppression, stable power distribution, and other details—which can be a real hassle.
Instead of relying on long cables, it’s better to keep the camera and mount connections short, and handle remote control separately.
As oophan suggested, you could use Mini PC & CAT5 cable, or go wireless with a Wi-Fi router for even more convenience.
