I've been using the ZWO174mm for years with Sharpcap. I just purchased the ZWO662MC for color planetary imaging. I figured it would just be plug and play, but I was wrong. Sharpcap wouldn't recognize the camera. So, I downloaded new drivers and updated my Ascom software. Now Sharpcap has the camera listed, but when I connect on it, it says no connection. Check the cables.
Any ideas?

Re: ZWOASI662MC
Hi Brian,
you are on the right track with updating the ZWO system driver from their web page, but you probably also need to update SharpCap (unless you are already using an up-to-date build of SharpCap 4.1). If you are on an old version then it is possible that the old version of SharpCap contains older ZWO components that don't see new models like the 662MC.
cheers,
Robin

Thanks Robin,
I updated everything. But when I plug in the camera, my laptop gives me the connect sound, then the disconnect sound over and over and over. I'm assuming there is something wrong with the camera. So, I sent it back and will try another one.

Hi Brian,
yes, that sounds bad, but before sending the camera back, try (if you can)
* a different USB cable
* a different USB port on the same PC
* a different PC
just in case it's something other than the camera. Also be sure to test with no USB extensions or hubs to begin with to eliminate those as a possibility.
cheers,
Robin

Follow up on my zwo issue, After downloading the latest drivers and other software, trying other cables and ports, I figured it was the camera. Sent it back and received another one. Problem solved.

Re: ZWOASI662MC
Hi,
glad that you got it sorted
It's fairly rare to have a dead-on-arrival camera, but does happen from time to time. I've got a couple of old ones (maybe 10+ years now) that don't work as well as they used to and sometimes need replugging a few times before they behave, so sadly they don't last forever either...
cheers,
Robin
