Exposure problem using ZWO ASI 220 mm mini
Exposure problem using ZWO ASI 220 mm mini
When I try to use my ZWO ASI mini in SharpCap Pro a slight increase in exposure causes the image to suddenly become way overexposed. Do you think this is a hardware problem or a software problem? I have tried in versions 4.0.9562 (64bit) and 4.1+ and get the same result.

My ASI482MC camera has the same. And is has to do with the Brightness setting. Somehow it doesn't have a graduate effect when changing, it goes from normal to overexposed in a heartbeat.
So try to lower the Brightness setting and see if that helps when you are at that point in your exposure duration?

The brightness control is set at 200 and can't be changed. Exposures can't be set at more than 10 sec. Dark frame pixel ADU levels for 8 sec exposure at gain=232 range between 3 and 20 percent of full scale. Something doesn't seem right.

Re: Exposure problem using ZWO ASI 220 mm mini
Hi,
two things that are worth checking
1) Are you connecting to the camera correctly? Your camera may show more than once in the 'Cameras' menu - it's normally the one highest up the menu that is the preferred option. In your case, look for the camera name appearing in the 'ZWO ASI Cameras' section of the camera menu as that will use the manufacturer provided SDK and give the best control over camera settings with the least restrictions.
2) Have you previously enabled the display stretch function in SharpCap to brighten a dim deep sky image? That setting may be being remembered each time you re-open the camera (look in the 'Display Histogram Stretch' section on the right - if the thin yellow line is a curve rather than running straight from bottom left to top right then the stretch is active). You can reset the stretch with the 'reset' button in that control, which looks like an anticlockwise circular arrow.
cheers,
Robin
