NV12 color space?

#1

Post by -Dmitry- »

Hello!

I use Sharpcap with Ezcap331 CAM LINK 4K capture card and a Sony A7S camera.

Ezcap331support Recording Resolution and Max FPS: 3840x2160 - NV12/30; 2560x1440 - NV12/60, YUY/50; 1920x1080 - NV12/120, YUY/60, XRGB/30; 1280x720 - NV12/60, YUY/60, XRGB/60

When I try to select NV12 color space in any resolution, a Sharpcap message appears that the camera does not support this mode. When I select YUY or XRGB color space, everything works fine. Is it possible to fix this?

Hi Dmitry,

can you share the full SharpCap log from trying to open the camera in NV12 mode? I'm not entirely hopeful of a fix, since the way this sort of camera is handled is that SharpCap asks the underlying DirectShow framework to arrange to convert the input from the camera (NV12) into the format SharpCap wants (RGB) and I am guessing that the framework says it can't do that. However, maybe with the full error information, I can work out a bit more about what is going on.

cheers,

Robin

Hi,

thanks for posting the log - the error message of interest is
Не удается найти комбинацию промежуточных фильтров для установления соединения
which translates to
Unable to find a combination of intermediate filters to establish a connection
Basically that means that the DirectShow framework cannot find a way to convert from the camera NV12 data to the RGB that SharpCap is asking for - I suspect that there is no converter that can do NV12 to RGB installed by default, and I am not aware of any installable DirectShow filters that have that capability.

I think this means that there isn't anything that I can do to help in this case unfortunately, sorry about that.

Robin

A search for convert NV12 data to RGB turned up a few results, mainly Nvidia related. Beyond my understanding but might mean something to you.

Thanks for the answer!
I hope that the needed converter will ever appear in the DirectShow.

Hi,

I suspect that there might not be much hope of a DirectShow converter - NV12 seems to be fairly new (at least I haven't come across it until recently), but DirectShow is now an old technology. I suspect that means that all the stuff that exists around the conversion will be aimed at newer technologies and will not support DirectShow :(

cheers,

Good night! Tell me, is the "Folder Monitor Camera" option available in the free version SharpCap?

Hi,

no, sorry, that's part of the paid version and needs a SharpCap Pro license.

You can use the two test cameras in the free version - The deep sky one will show a single image loaded from file repeatedly, while the high speed one can either show an image or play back an SER or AVI video (the AVI needs to be in RGB I think).

cheers,

Robin
