Enhancements>Color Noise Reduction

#1

Post by MarMax »

Robin,

With the last two drops of SharpCap I'm finding that Color Noise Reduction, which normally reduces color noise significantly, is doing nothing when it's selected (clicking the check box). I'm a frequent user of this feature and turn it on and off constantly during a session so something is definitely different. Perhaps your work with Colour Calibration has somehow affected it.

Hi Mike,

did you also post on CloudyNights about this? I saw a post there and went to have a look at the code. Sadly it was my mistake while trying to fix a rare crash with the colour noise reduction being used in an odd, unsupported camera mode. I got the logic wrong for disabling it in just that mode and killed it for all cameras in RAW mode too :(

I have a fix already - that will be in next week's update.

thanks for the report and sorry about breaking it!

Yes that was my post on CN. I posted the bug report here and then mentioned it on CN to cover all bases. For DSOs I'm in RAW16 for all cameras. I did not think to try a different mode. Where CNR seems to help the most is with the NBZ 7nm dual narrowband filter. CNR really helps cut the red.

Thank you for fixing it with the next update!
