Welche Kameraeinstellungen bei SER Mond ?

#1

Post by Uri »

Hallo

Hello
I'm brand new and already really excited about the recording software. As a beginner, I have a few questions about which color space settings I should use for a moon video (SER). (RAW 8, RAW 16, or RGB 32, 24, 48, or mono??) I need some help deciding.

What should I set on the gamma control and the exposure gain shift, or is it irrelevant for moon videos?

My setup is the Maksutov 100/1400 with the ASI 585MC and the Staradventurer GTi tracking system.

I also wanted to ask if I can also control the tracking with Sharp Cap and what settings I need to set for this.

I look forward to your recommendations.

Best, Uri

Hi Uri,

for a moon video a RAW8 setting is the best choice for a colour camera (MONO8 for a monochrome camera). There is no need to use higher bit depths for the moon, if you do you will just get capture files that are twice as big and slower frame rates, but you will not improve your image.

You should not have access to a gamma control for your ASI585 camera - ZWO removed the gamma adjustment from their cameras some years ago, so you would only see that control in really old versions of SharpCap (and those old versions would probably not recognize the relatively new ASI585).

Exposure/Gain shift is not a 'real' control - it's a convenient way of adjusting both the gain and exposure in a way that doesn't affect the brightness of the image - move it right for longer exposure and lower gain, left for shorter exposure and higher gain. Because of this, the value doesn't matter.

You should be able to control the mount - you will need to connect it back to the computer (probably with a USB cable) and install the ASCOM Platform and the (I think) Synscan software from Skywatcher. Once that is all installed you should be able to select the mount in the SharpCap hardware settings and control it - see https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/4.1/#Configuring%20SharpCap and https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/4.1/#Telesc ... %20Control

Hope this helps,

Robin

Hallo zusammen
Wer kann mir ein wenig weiterhelfen und mitteilen wie ich die Nachführung Staradventurer GTi mit Sharp Cap verbinden kann.
Was muss ich wo einstellen?
Vielleicht kann mir jemand ein Rezept für einen Anfänger mitteilen. Bin auch noch ein Anfänger in der EDV.

Bis bald Uri

Hi,

you will need to install extra software - at least:

* The ASCOM Platform (https://ascom-standards.org/Downloads/Index.htm - on the right)
* Skywatcher Synscan App for Windows (https://skywatcher.com/download/software/synscan-app/ - currently second item down)
* Skywatcher ASCOM driver for Synscan app (https://skywatcher.com/download/software/ascom-driver/)

If you connect the StarAdventurer to the PC with USB then run the 'Synscan App' you should be able to control the mount from that app - that's the first thing to test and get working. Once you have that working, you can set up SharpCap to talk to the Synscan App ASCOM driver (see https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/4.1/#Config ... TO%20Mount), then connect to the device from within SharpCap after opening a camera and control the mount from there (https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/4.1/#GOTO%20Mount%20Control)

It's best to test this sort of thing out in daylight - much less stressful working out issues and adjusting settings to get things working than trying to do it all in a rush in the dark before the cloud returns...

cheers,

Robin
