About the Celestron StarSense Autoguider V2.
I need to know if it work with SharpCap 4.1 Pro and how to connect it to the AVX mount (guide port /or/ Aux port).
I exclusively use SharpCap for planitary and lunar imaging. I have the Pro License, the AVX Mount, Celestron C6" SCT and Celestron 9.25" EdgeHD SCT. I'm a newbe: 1.5 Years into the hobby. I've never used NINA or PHD and hope to never need to learn them.
I have the ASCOM platform installed and control my AVX Mount using CPWI and SharpCap handles camera, focuser and filter wheel.
SharpCap has features that provide minimal tracking across the sensor and dithering and recentering an object using plate solving. Perhaps that is enough tracking for lunar and planitary.
Yet I see a flaw in my thinking since when using the ASI662 camera to image Jupiter or Mars; that camera can't see any stars so the CelestronStarSense Autoguider might be a required tool to recenter the planet.
I'll greatly appreciate your comments and guidance.
Mike

Re: Will Celestron StarSense Autoguider V2 Work in SC4.1
Hi Mike,
I honestly don't have an answer for you, since I don't have any experience of this new model or the original model. While I can see that the device has a USB port, it's not clear whether software like SharpCap can directly access the camera on the device, or if it is purely a standalone auto-guiding device with the USB just to supply power. I would assume the latter unless someone provides definitive information to the contrary.
As a standalone device, it will do what it is supposed to do - help with alignment, guiding, goto accuracy, etc, but I'm not sure if it will help get the planets into view of the ASI662 - although that *might* work if you can precisely align the autoguider center of view with the main telescope (not sure how that would be achieved though).
If you are already running with a laptop/PC at the telescope to run SharpCap, then consider a small guide scope and guide camera and running PHD2 to guide (for deep sky) or using SharpCap to control the guide scope camera for plate solving. It's very likely that this combination will give more flexibility and cost significantly less, although it lacks the 'plug it in and it works' approach of the SSAG.
cheers,
Robin

Thank you Robin.
I very much appreciate your clear and thorough answers.
The price is quite a large a risk to take.
I'll attempt going the traditional route.
