Reverse focuser option missing?!

#1

Post by Doctorfrag »

Hi all, I am using a Celetron Focusmotor on my C9.25 Edge HD and it connects perfectly to Sharpcap, but...the IN/OUT buttons are reversed: I can't correct this using the "Reverse" option clearly showed in the manual. It simply doesn't exist, or at least I cannot see it.
It is pretty boring while focusing as I always have to remember that IN is actually OUT and so on :(
I am running the latest version of Sharpcap (installed today), but still no joy: reverse option still missing.
Do you have any ideas?
Thank you

Hi,

the reverse checkbox was removed about a year or so back - there was a discussion here on the forums of a couple of issues with the behaviour of that checkbox (sadly I'm struggling to re-find that discussion right now). On careful consideration I realized that there isn't any way for SharpCap to make a 'reverse' checkbox work the way that it should under all circumstances, so it seemed best to remove it as it could never be made to work 'properly'. The actual ASCOM driver for the device can correctly implement a 'reverse' option, and some ASCOM drivers do make that option available, but SharpCap does not have enough info/control to do the job correctly.

Unfortunately the documentation hasn't been updated since the removal occurred, so the reverse checkbox is still there in the user manual.

cheers,

Robin
