Frame of interest confusing when image flipped

#1

Post by vk4tnt »

Hi there,

I am doing Asteroidal and Lunar occultation timings with a C11 equipped with a Hyperstar lens in prime focus at f/2. Because of that setup, a Horizontal Flip is necessary in Sharpcap to make the image appear as it looks in the sky. To reduce glare, I place the illuminated part of the Moon on the left, outside my field of view in full frame mode. When I try to reduce the field of interest to, say 640x480, I noticed that Sharpcap uses the unflipped image as a reference for the location of the reduced field. The preview still flips the image, though. If you look at the attached image that shows the scenario, the position rectangle is on the right instead of the left of the full frame.
Hope that makes sense. Please let me know if you need any further details.
Thank you,

Renato Langersek

Hi Renato,

what camera are you using? The details of how the flip is handled are all camera make specific, so I will need to test with the same brand of camera.

cheers,

Robin
