How to save light frame in R or G or B color

Is possible view and save the light frame monochrome in R or G or B color in fit format file?

Hi,

a single FITS file *can* contain multiple colour planes for R/G/B components of the image, but in general SharpCap won't save light frames that way. The reason is that the data comes off of the colour camera in RAW format (one value per pixel), and saving into FITS in that format has two major advantages

1) The resulting FITS file is smaller - 1/3 the size - of an equivalent R/G/B file, but without any loss of information

2) The conversion from RAW to RGB - debayering - is an irreversible process and there are multiple algorithms with different trade-offs between speed and quality that can be used to do it. If you save in RAW then you can try out various algorithms in processing later, but if you save in RGB you are stuck with the processing that was done by SharpCap or the camera SDK (which in both cases are likely to be using algorithms that aim for speed rather than quality).

Above I said 'in general' SharpCap won't save that way - if you put the camera into RGB24 or RGB32 colour space then you should be able to get images of that sort, but you are limiting the bit depth to 8 bits, which is generally unsuitable for the sorts of imaging that would use FITS file for saving.

You have to use R,G,B color filters and take a shot for each filter

I use principally OSC camera, i would to use monochrome camera, with Halpha filter, for increase the Ha signal in live stacking and final stacking. That's why I'd like to be able to see and save fit files in red channel.

If you capture data using an OSC camera, then you can use processing software to split out the R, G, B channels. Software such as Astro Pixel Processor and PixInsight have the capability to do this. Both applications would allow Ha data to be assigned to the R channel when recombining the channels, 'combine RGB' in APP and PixelMath in PI.

Hi,

OK, so as others have mentioned, this is something that you need to do in other processing software when you load/process the images saved by SharpCap - there isn't any functionality in SharpCap to do this sort of thing.
