URANUC-C Pro Image problem wit hardware binning 2x2

Hi

When using hardware binning 2x2 there is a stripe on the right of the image.
I noticed this on my blacks images but it also appears on flats and lights.

If I deactivate the hardware binning, there is no problem, but usb will be more busy.

Easy to reproduce with "capture darks" function and 2s exposure for example. I use gain 210 and offset 6 as adised for this camera in player one documentation.

Attached are the image showing the problem.

Thanks you

Hi,

thanks for reporting - that sort of issue with the data within the image itself is almost certainly happening at a low level - in the camera itself or in the SDK rather than in SharpCap. I have just checked and there is an update from PlayerOne to SDK 3.7.1 (SharpCap has 3.7.0) which might help, so I will include that update in the next SharpCap update. On the other hand, the changelog for the SDK doesn't mention anything about this model, so maybe not.

If the SDK update doesn't help then it would be worth testing with another application to see if the same problems happen. Also worth reducing the USB speed setting to see if that helps. If the issue persists we may need to ask PlayerOne themselves to look at it.

One last point to note - the 'hardware binning' for CMOS cameras really just indicates that the same 'software binning' of adding pixel values is being done *on the camera* rather than on the PC. It does give an advantage in terms of higher frame rates being possible, but it doesn't have anything like the benefits of CCD hardware binning where the charges collected by multiple pixels were accumulated before analogue to digital conversion. That means that unless you need the higher frame rates that hardware binning gives, there's no real need to use it.

cheers,

Robin

I tested with firecapture and there is the same problem.

I hope that player one could help to fix this

Hi,

thanks for confirming that it is happening with other applications. Have you passed the bug report onto Player One?

cheers,

Robin
