Hi Robin
Testing out the live stacking feature in SC (SharpCapInstall-4.1.12946.0-64bit.exe) and trying to process the stacked image in GraXpert (GraXpert-3.1.0cr2-win64)
The SC stacked FITS image seems to lockup GraXpert when trying to load it.
This is with a 16 bit or 32bit stacked image from SC.
The FITS RAWframes from SC load ok in GraXpert.
The SC stacked FITS image will load OK in ASISTUDIO FITS viewer.
If I convert the image to TIF format (in ASISTUDIO) the image loads OK in GraXpert.
Any Ideas on this?
Thanks
Steve

Re: Live stack image fails to load in GraXpert
Hi Steve,
the 32-bit problem is something that I have seen before (or similar, anyway) - there are two ways that a 32 bit FITS can be saved (integer or floating point) and some other pieces of software can only handle one of those two. By default, SharpCap writes integer 32 bit FITS, but you can change that to floating point in the 'Saving' settings. In general I'd expect that to resolve the issue with the 32 bit file...
However, the problem with the 16 bit version too is more worrying - there's nothing unusual about that really - the format is the same as the 16 bit FITS that you get by saving raw frames, so why would that cause a problem? The possibility that comes to mind is that maybe there is something in the FITS headers of the stacked image that GraXpert chokes on? If you have an application that can edit FITS headers and then re-save, it might be worth wiping most of them and seeing if that helps.
cheers,
Robin

Re: Live stack image fails to load in GraXpert
HI Robin
Something else I just tried.
I was able to load and view the 16 bit and 32 bit images in the FITS Liberator program with no problem.
Also I was able to view the FITS header in Liberator and I was mistaken on the SC version I was using.
I was using SharpCapInstall-4.1.12829.0-64bit at the time, just to clarify.
Since the images are handled OK in other programs , I will get in touch with the GraXpert programmers to see if it might be an issue on their end.
I will keep you updated on this.
Take care
Steve
