I have just received my camera (SVBONY SV105/SV205).
It told me to install the SharpCap software for my computer (v4.12946 64bit for PC), which I have done.
Software appears to be operating.
I have plugged the camera in and ensured it is recognized by Defive Manager.
Drivers are fully updated.
I've told it to rescan for new hardware and I've told it to reconnect camera.
It displays a message that says your camera is in 'Still' mode, and I sohuld capte and Sve iamges using 'Start Capture', etc.
It simply produces a stock shot of the Orion Nebula (presumably this is what it is programmed to do if it gets no signal from the camera).
There are no further directions. or avenues to pursue, and no troubleshooting hints.
I am stumped.
What do I try next?
How do I get my new camera out of 'Still' mode?

Re: How do I get my new camera out of 'Still' mode?
Hi,
it sounds like you have the wrong camera selected in the cameras menu - the orion nebula image is the default image shown by one of SharpCap's 'Test' cameras that you can use to play around with the features of the program without having a real camera available. Perhaps the option is selected to re-open the most recently used camera when SharpCap starts, so that every time you open the program it is going back to the test camera without you having to do anything.
Anyway, the fix should be easy - go to the 'Cameras' menu and select the SVBony SV105 (or 205) entry from that menu to switch to using the real camera. Since the SVBony cameras you have connect to the system as webcams, they will automatically run in 'live mode' rather than 'still mode', so that will then be fine. For other cameras, there is a 'Live View' button just under the File menu that toggles between 'live' and 'still' mode (read more about that here : https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/4.1/#Live%2 ... ill%20Mode)
hope this helps,
Robin

Oh. SVBONY SV105 is right there in the 'Cameras' menu. I kept seeing the top "Rescan for Cameras" option - which didn't seem to be doing anything. It never even occurred to me to look farther down the menu.admin wrote: Wed Jan 01, 2025 2:27 pm Anyway, the fix should be easy - go to the 'Cameras' menu and select the SVBony SV105 (or 205) entry from that menu to switch to using the real camera.
Thank you.

First Light! (Great way to start the new year!)
(It's day here and the only thing far enough away to focus on is a neighbor's roof.)
The collimator has not arrived yet so it's pretty crummy alignment after sitting in storage for several years. The spider adjustor bolts are literally rattling in their sockets.
Cross my fingers I can get it all set up before Saturn's rings are completely edge-on.

Hi,
glad that's all sorted now - first light of a rooftop, chimney pot or tree is a always a great start - if the target is distant enough then the focus position might not be too far off where it will need to be for the stars
clear skies!
