Hi Robin
Running win11 pro PC, latest updates, 32 gig ram, I7 12 core processor
SC v SharpCapInstall-4.1.12873.0-64bit (full license)
I was running sensor analysis on my new ZWO ASI585 MC pro camera.
I ran analysis in raw 16 and raw 8 mode with issue but I forgot I had my filter in the Train.
I removed the filter and started the analysis again.
I ran raw 8 analysis with no issue.
I then started analysis in raw 16.
It completed first pass with light panel.
It asked for DARK , I cover scope and ran OK.
It then asked to uncover and light again.
It seemed to recognize I had placed the light panel back in place??
Prompting
UNCOVER THE SENSOR FOR GAIN MEASUREMENT
WAITING (2 MORE FRAMES)
At this time (approx 19:17:00 12-19/2024) SC locked up.
No response for any mouse or keystrokes.
I waited about 7 minutes , no change in SC.
I had to use Task Manager to kill SC.
I also noted my PC fans went into high speed mode during the lockup and only went back to normal speed after killing SC.
I have attached the log file from this evening.
Hope this helps
let me know if you need more info.
Thanks for help with this.
Steve

Re: SC lockup during sensor analysis
Hi Steve,
thanks for the report. Unfortunately the contents of that log file just seems to show SharpCap starting up, so it doesn't look like the run of SharpCap that experienced the problem. If you go back and look in the log folder, you should be able to find the log from the problem run - it will have a file name containing a date and time from when you *started* running SharpCap for that session and a last modified time about when the program crashed. It will also likely be considerably larger than the one attached, since running the analysis does put a lot of info in the log.
There are a few possibilities for why a lock up like that would happen, but given the point it happened at, it's possible that SharpCap sent a command to the camera to change settings and that the camera SDK just got stuck sending that command, which in turn can mean SharpCap gets stuck. Hopefully the log will record what did happen (and likely as not prove my guess above wrong!)
cheers,
Robin

Re: SC lockup during sensor analysis
HI Robin
Sorry about the wrong Log file.
Later in evening I did run the sensor analysis again (raw 16 mode) and it ran without any problems.
So I will chalk up the previous glitch to gremlins .
SC did run 4 out of 5 times with no issue this time and Never had a problem in last couple years so lets call this case closed.
By the way , your "local" plate solve is impressive.
Running with my SCT 9.25 at 1487FL (with FR) it has no problem finding solution/location in seconds.
One question if I may.
How do I toggle off the overlay notations on the solved image.
I was doing a live stack and the notations overlay remained through the capture.
Thanks for all your work on this software.
Hope you have a great holiday.

Re: SC lockup during sensor analysis
Hi Steve,
the highlighting of object names is separate to the live stacking, so you can have both features enabled at the same time as you found out. To turn it off, you can either close the 'Deep Sky Annotation Results' window or toggle the 'Deep Sky Annotation' button in the toolbar off (it's just to the left of the 'Target Name').
Don't hesitate to post logs if you get crashes/hangs again - in particular if the program freezes up, it can be difficult to diagnose and is much easier when you can ask questions about the problem rather than just looking at an uploaded bug reports.
cheers,
Robin
