What does it depend on that in the histogram, the crest of the histogram comes out very far to the left of the histogram

Hi;
Most of the time in live stacking the histogram peak is too far to the left.

¿What does it depend on that in the histogram, the crest of the histogram comes out very far to the left of the histogram?

Hi,

there can be couple of likely causes for the peak being too far left...

* The offset/brightness/black level control for the camera is set too low (different names on different brands, but all controls will move the histogram left/right as adjusted). To set this correctly, capture dark frames at your usual exposure/gain settings, without live stacking, and view the histogram. Adjust the brightness/offset/black level to put the peak just far enough right so that the edges of the peak do not touch the left side of the graph.

* Using a dark frame that is too bright compared to the light frames (longer exposure, higher gain, different colour balance settings, different offset/brightness/black level).

Hope this helps,

Robin

Hello;
In my case, with a Player One Uranus C camera, where and how would I find out where to increase the brightness of the image?
It can be done from the histogram that appears on the left.
I don't see any other option to do it with the Uranus C.
Could you post an image to clarify it for me?
Regards.

Hi,

for the Player One camera range, the control you need to adjust is called 'Offset' - as shown below.

Adjusting that control applies a uniform offset to pixel values, shifting the whole histogram either left or right (depending on the direction of adjustment). If you are using dark and/or flat frames then the same value of this should be used for all of the light, dark, flat and dark flat (or bias) frames to avoid processing problems.

thanks,

Robin
