SV305 FPS settings?
SV305 FPS settings?
I'm running a SV305 cam as my first dedicated astrocam along with a TPO 180 scope/lens?! That alone was a big win for me! (It took me 20 min just to get the moon dialed in!! I have been having an issue with the computer screen taking a 3-8 seconds to update the view on my laptop after I make a small focus adjustment. The compter is a DEll XPS13, so it should be able to handle the SkyCap app. What would a be considered a good FPS setting for the SV305? As of right now it is set at Max.

Hi,
The SV305C should hit about 21 to 22 fps at maximum resolution, but make sure of the following settings to get to that
* USB Speed set to 2
* Colour space to RAW8
* Exposure to about 40ms or less (if you are still at the default 100ms exposure, then you can only get 10fps, since 10*100ms makes 1s, etc)
The 'Frame Rate Limit' control will never help make things faster - all it does is limit the rate at which SharpCap accepts frames from the camera to slow things down for timelapse, etc.
If you are not seeing the image update for 2-3 seconds then something sounds wrong - close any tools that you have open in SharpCap (those process the image and can add significant extra work for the laptop). Check the frame rate shown at the bottom left to see if that is showing as expected (10 to 20fps+) or at less than 1 fps. Also check your USB connection (long cables can cause problems). It's also worth checking the SharpCap log as under some circumstances SharpCap will record info in the log if it is being significantly slowed down - fee free to post the log here for me to check.
