Using Sharpcap for polar alignment with skywatcher 150i strainwave mount?

Hi Robin,
I recently ordered a skywatcher 150i strainwave mount, which I will receive in late July or August timeframe. This is a brand new mount skywatcher just developed (web address below). Do you know if I will be able to use sharpcap's polar alignment function with this mount? The reason I am asking is because skywatcher indicated that the mount will not have any clutches... I am wondering if I will be able to move the RA axis 90 degrees for polar alignment in sharpcap if it has no clutches. Maybe having no clutches doesn't mean I can't rotate the RA axis 90 degrees. I really hope I can still use sharpcap for polar alignment... any idea?

Hi,

you should be OK - you will just need to use the mount control buttons in SharpCap or on the handset to rotate the mount via the motors rather than doing it by hand via unlocking the clutches. You can try this out with your existing mount if you want - SharpCap now has mount movement buttons in the polar alignment screens to allow you to do this easily.

cheers,

Robin
