Sharpcap mount control

Hi,

OK, the thing to do the next time it happens is to go to the Help menu in SharpCap, then choose 'Show Log' - the log will include all the details on errors, even if you missed spotting them. You can click the 'locate on disk' button when viewing the log, which will find the log file (and upload that file here for me to check).

thanks for posting the log - I can see the key error messages in there.

There are logs of errors of 'conversation timeout' coming from the ASCOM driver when SharpCap is trying to query the mount status. That error means one of two things:

* The ASCOM driver was trying to talk to the Synscan app and didn't receive a reply

or

* The Synscan app was trying to talk to the mount and didn't receive a reply

Eventually, SharpCap tries to disconnect and reconnect to see if it can get things working again - at this point the error is 'No device found'.

We now know that the problem is somewhere in the communcation between either the Synscan ASCOM driver and the Synscan app, or between the App and the mount. The way to work out which it is will be to try to use the Synscan app directly to control the mount if the problem happens again. If the app cannot control the telescope at that point, then it has lost communcation with the hardware somehow.

I always use the synscan app to control my mount, i dont use the arrows on sharpcap, when it disconnects on sharpcap it remains connected and working on the synscan app just fine

OK, so that would imply that the problem is that the ASCOM driver for the Synscan App has lost connection with the Synscan App itself and for some reason cannot re-establish it.

There may be options/configuration for either the ASCOM driver or the Synscan App that could help this situation, but unfortunately I don't use either, so cannot really advise on that. There are also alternative options for controlling Skywatcher mounts (EQMOD, GreenSwampServer,etc) - these replace the Synscan app and ascom driver completely, so are unlikely to suffer from the same issues (but may have oddities/isues of their own, or may be missing features that you like in the Synscan app).

Unfortunately, from all the info now gathered, there seems to be nothing that I can do to cure this issue from the SharpCap side, sorry.

Thanks, i will check them out, when i use the eqmod software, what do i choose on sharpcap hardware section instead of "synscan driver"?

Just wanted to post an update, opening the synscan app as run as addministrator seems to have fixed the issue, the connection stays good now and im using unguided dithering, maybe this will help people having the same issue
