Sensor Analysis for QHY168c

#1

Post by glauria »

Hello,

I am trying to calibrate my QHY168c and I think I might be running into a bug. What's happening is when I start the procedure, the RGB balance levels jump to their maximum value of 15 which creates all sorts of problems. (Typically, they are kept at the (rough) mid point level of 7. When they are at this level, everything looks fine although, I typically have to cut the green level down to 5.) When they jump to 15, everything becomes saturated and as expected, Sharpcap complains that the light level is too high. Is the balance supposed to jump like that during the calibration? Needless to say, I can't analyze the sensor.

Thanks,
-Gene

Ah,

this is not correct - the sensor analysis does try to put the various white balance controls into a 'neutral' position for QHY cameras, but doesn't deal with the ranges available for the QHY168c correctly by the look of things as I hadn't encountered the way that camera works before.

I will make a change for the next release to put the controls to half value if they have a maximum under 128.

cheers,

Thanks Robin,

I’m glad to find out that it turned out to be a bug and nothing serious. I’ll look forward towards the updated version and will be eager to try it out.

Cheers,

Hi Gene,

I put out an update last night that ought to set the white balance values to 1/2 of maximum for your camera - this should let the analysis proceed and then we can compare the results to the known results for that sensor to see if we have found the neutral white balance levels or not.

cheers,

Robin

PS - the build with this in needs to be downloaded and installed manually - it's not available for auto-update yet.
