I'm sure I'm missing something obvious but...
Last night I specified capturing .fits files but I got .png instead.
eg. "frame_00001.png"
Camera settings say...
[ALTAIR178C3]
CameraSerialNumber=AA190219085412178C3E2D1A473AE9B
FrameType=Light
Debayer Preview=On
Output Format=FITS files (*.fits)
Capture Area=3040x2048
Binning=1x1
Pan=0
Tilt=0
Colour Space=RAW14
Interestingly, when I captured darks to my dark library they were .fits files.
Can anybody suggest something I can check?
Ta, Jim
I got .png files instead of .fits files!

Re: I got .png files instead of .fits files!
Hi Jim,
how were you capturing? In a small number of places where you capture without having a setting to actively choose the output format, SharpCap may default to the 'Preferred still format' from the settings. I'm trying to catch and fix these as I find them.
There are also a few places where saving is deliberately to PNG - for instance 'Save as seen' from live stacking, planetary stacking or the display stretch control. These are places where you are saving the image exacly as shown on screen in SharpCap, so the assumption is that you will be viewing/sharing/printing it rather than processing further, so PNG makes sense.
cheers,
Robin

Re: I got .png files instead of .fits files!
Hi Robin,
Thanks for the swift reply.
I was capturing using "Live Stack" mode.
I just tried it again and with output format specified as .fits I get .png files in Live Stack mode and .fits files in Start Capture mode.
I just changed the Preferred Still Format to "FITS" and now I get .fits files in both modes.
I am a happy bunny!
Thank you, Jim
