Sharpcap Pro et Exos 2 GOTO Bresser

#1

Post by MEKBUDA »

Hello

Let me introduce: I use a Bresser Exos 2 goto mount.
Driver up-to-date and installed.
Driving with Poth as indicated by the manufacturer.

When I'm in SharcapPro, I can't connect the mount.
I have the virtual Poth racket opening but I can't steer the mount via SC.
I can trigger the plate solving
I didn't do a night test because I prefer to clarify things during the day.

Maybe there are owners of this good mount here.

Thank you in advance for anyone who can help me.

Hi,

I wonder if the problem is actually the 'POTH' - that is now old software and has been replaced by ASCOM's new 'Device Hub Telescope'.

The first thing to try is to download and install the very latest ASCOM platform from https://ascom-standards.org/Downloads/Index.htm and then try using 'Device Hub Telescope' instead of POTH in both SharpCap and any other software. Just like with POTH, you need to configure Device Hub Telescope itself to talk to the driver for your Bresser mount.

cheers,

Robin

Hello,

thank you for these tips.

I thought I had to use the same driver that is recommended by the manufacturer.

I'm going to do some testing and I'll come and confirm or not if it worked.

Thank you

I've done some testing and they're not good.

The mount conflicts with the Ascom driver.

I'm not an IT expert, that's worth noting.

I wanted to link Carte Du Ciel, Sharpcap and PHD2.

Really no one uses this mount?

I know that Bresser is not familiar with its equipment.

It's really hard. I don't want to part with this mount which is very good.

Hi,

the best thing to do is to set up the mount to the best of your ability and then try to connect to it in SharpCap. Once you have done that, please post details of any error you get along with the contents of the SharpCap log (which will reveal more details of the error - hopefully). If connection works, then proceed until you get an error and then send the log!

It's also possible that the Bresser mount is actually a rebranded version of some other mount - lots of companies do this for their astro hardware. If it is, then finding the other identical models from other brands may help you learn more about how to get the mount working.

thanks,

Robin
