I have been very underwhelmed by the images I'm getting from this camera doing EAA. I think the problem lies with my mini pc which I remote into from my warm room. I have both my mini pc and desktop hard wired to the network for data transfer. the speck for my mini pc are as follows.
Operating System: Windows 10 Professional
CPU: Intel i7-4500U
GPU: Intel HD Graphics 4400
Processor Base Speed: 1.80GHz
Processor Turbo Speed: 3.00GHz
Process Technology: 22nm
Power Consumption: 15W (TDP)
RAM: 16GB
Internal Storage (Installed): 512GB (mSATA)
Internal Storage (Installed): 1TB HDD (2.5" SATA)

Does anyone else use a mini pc at the mount and remote into it with this camera? I cant even run stellarium as their is no dedicated graphics card. If the pc is my problem I have 2 options in mind and are as follows.

GEEKOM A7
AMD Ryzen™ 9 7940HS or Ryzen™ 7 7840HS.
AMD Radeon™ Graphics 780M.
Dual-channel DDR5 5600MT/s, up to 64GB.
M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 4 x 4 SSD, up to 2TB.
Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth® 5.2.
Stunning minimalistic design. 0.47L aluminum housing.

GEEKOM Mini IT13
13th Gen Intel® Core™ i9-13900H, i7-13620H or i5-13500H.
Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics eligible.
Comprehensive port selection, including two USB 4 ports.
Supports 8K and quad displays.
Intel® Bluetooth® 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6E.
SIZE
i7-13620H 32GB RAM + 1TB SSDi9-13900H 32GB RAM + 2TB SS

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Paul. I'm also open to any other mini pc suggestions

Hi Paul,

I suspect the age of the i7-4500U CPU (over 10 years now) is a big part of the issue. Although it did have built in graphics, those will be very old now and may not even have up-to-date drivers. Both of the suggestions that you list should do a good job. 16Gb of memory would typically be plenty for SharpCap use.

I think that it would be a good idea to test first with an existing PC at the telescope side for at least a short session to make sure you get the sort of improvement you are hoping for before spending more!

cheers,

Robin
