SVBony SV305 (Older Non Pro) not natively detected
I have the older SV305 (Non Pro) SVBony camera that used to work natively in SharpCap a couple years ago. With the very latest version(s) of SharpCap it is not detected Natively and even when it is detected its only using a specific older version of the SVBony Drivers (Ver 1.3.6 from around Aug 2020) and can only use Direct Show.
I have come to the point where I want to install an older version of SharpCap but I also want to keep using the latest 64 bit version for my ZWO 533 camera.
I am expecting the old SV305 is unlikely to work in SharpCap latest version and yes I have tried latest SV Bony drivers - in fact I have tried most of them (the older versions are being flagged as virus ridden by Bit Defender).
So - I would like to install and older probably 32 bit version of SharpCap and I would like to know if there are any issues having the latest 4.1 64 bit version installed at the same time with a 32 Bit version?
Cheers

Re: SVBony SV305 (Older Non Pro) not natively detected
Hi again,
I decided to install the 32 bit versions figuring they would go to (x86) folder so less chance of conflict. I found out where the native stops working.
Version 4.1 32 bit is a no go for any version.
Version 4.0 32 bit Build 8682 released 14 Feb 2022 works with SV305 in native mode. Yippee.
Version 4.0 32 bit Build 8695 released 21 Feb 2022 does not, and the notes indicate SVBony SDK updated. So I believe that SDK update breaks the SV305 native support.
Now:
1. Will V4.0 64 Bit co-exist nicely with V4.1 latest build?
2. As an alternative to installing old software, Is it possible to include the older SDK in latest build and switch between them depending on which camera is detected or a user setting - or something?
Cheers

Re: SVBony SV305 (Older Non Pro) not natively detected
Hi,
can you first check that you have the latest version of the SVBony Windows system driver installed? An old version of that could give the sort of problems that you are seeing.
The latest download can be found here : https://www.svbony.com/support-software-driver/ - click 'Windows' on the left, then the camera driver is the top download.
Let me know if that helps,
cheers,
Robin

Re: SVBony SV305 (Older Non Pro) not natively detected
Hi Robin
I had SVBony driver 1.3.6 installed as per details provided in my first two posts (other driver versions do not work at all - both older and newer).
I downloaded the latest version of the driver from SVBony's website, this is version 1.12.1 released 30 Nov 2023. I uninstalled 1.3.6 and installed 1.12.1 and checked 4.0 32 bit Build 8682 as it was still installed, and it still worked.
Then I upgraded to SharpCap 4.0.9571 32 bit, now the SV305 will not work (be detected natively) and the Direct Show version is not working either (not even detected). 4.1 64 bit latest version also does not detect the SV305 camera.
So using latest SVBony drivers, Latest SharpCap (64 bit) does not work, and the last release of SharpCap 4.0 32 bit also does not work with the SV305 camera.
Note I am running Win 10 64 bit.
Cheers
Phil

Re: SVBony SV305 (Older Non Pro) not natively detected
Hi Phil,
OK, that's all starting to get a bit odd.
Can you test the status of the camera and its drivers using USBTreeViewer please? You can download this useful tool from : https://www.uwe-sieber.de/usbtreeview_e.html
Once running, it shows you lots of details about the USB devices plugged into your system, and the display of ports, hubs and devices on the left updates live as you connect/disconnect things. If you run USBTreeView and then plug in your camera, you should see 'SVBONY USB Camera' appear somewhere in the tree of devices on the left as it is plugged in. Then you can click on that and the right hand side gives you a report on the device, the drivers it is using and all sorts of other stuff.
For my SV305C, I get the info below - it will be interesting to see if yours has any significant differences.
cheers,
Robin

Re: SVBony SV305 (Older Non Pro) not natively detected
Hi Phil,
OK, all looking pretty reasonable there - I think that the bulk of the differences from mine are either related to USB port numbers (not significant) or because you have yours plugged into a USB3 port (again, shouldn't make a difference). It looks like the driver is loaded correctly and the same hardware identifiers too, so SharpCap should detect it OK in theory.
Next thing is to check the SharpCap log to see if there is anything unusual happening during the camera detection on startup - make sure you have the latest SharpCap 4.1 and with the camera plugged in, run SharpCap. Once SharpCap is finished loading up, go to Help menu, then Show Log, then copy all the text in the log at that point and post it here. If there are any 'Warning' or 'Error' lines that might be an indicator of something going wrong with camera detection.
thanks,
Robin

Re: SVBony SV305 (Older Non Pro) not natively detected
Hi Robin
I will get that to you soon.
Interestingly, I bought a new SV305Pro for the increased speed hopefully for better lucky imaging. SharpCap 4.1 latest detected it first up - it is a USB3 camera, so maybe that makes a difference.
I could try a USB2 hub to see if that works I guess.
I do have a case open with SVBony - I think I will point them to this thread.
Cheers

I will get that to you soon.
Interestingly, I bought a new SV305Pro for the increased speed hopefully for better lucky imaging. SharpCap 4.1 latest detected it first up - it is a USB3 camera, so maybe that makes a difference.
I could try a USB2 hub to see if that works I guess.
I do have a case open with SVBony - I think I will point them to this thread.
Cheers
Phil

Re: SVBony SV305 (Older Non Pro) not natively detected
Hi Robin
Here are the logs. I plugged the old SV305 in and then started SharpCap.
Looks like the SV305 is not being detected by the SVBonyDeviceEnumerator code.
