Hi,

there are plenty of videos showing how to work this made by SharpCap end-users - have a look and see which ones have a presentation style that you like

https://www.youtube.com/results?search_ ... cus+assist

We don't have official tutorial videos for SharpCap though.

cheers,

How do you 'tell it to scan' ? Still can't get it working.

Hi,

you should see buttons to start a scan in either direction (now labelled positive and negative I think) in the top right corner of the focus graph area as shown here

https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/4.1/#(Nearl ... 20Focusing

Note that these buttons only show when SharpCap has been configured to use an electronic focuser and the focuser is 'connected' in SharpCap.

cheers,

It is connected and I have been manually focussing by typing in a 5 figure number for the focus position but finally found it quicker to go out and put the Bahtinov mask on. I am sure I have tried the positive/negative buttons but will have another go tonight.

Tried again tonight but I can't see how you force focus scanning.

I've only found one by Pete Gallop (the others are planetary). He has a scan button to initiate the focus scan. I don't seem to have that.

Hi,

please post a screenshot showing what you see when trying to do this (include the whole SharpCap window if possible) - that should help understand what is going on.

thanks,

All packed away now with a week of cloud and rain to come then we'll be away a few days but if we ever get a clear night before the summer recess I'll set up and do the screenshot and get back here. Thanks Robin.
