Switching Cameras

#1

Post by smithn00 »

I have used a QHY 174 with SC with great success for several years. Now I have added an UltraStar planetary camera for a special project. SC recognizes the UltraStar and loads the correct initial parameters. I have chosen a 1s exposure time. This configuration is dropping one out of every three images.
Where can I adjust to improve this performance?

Hi,

with the StarlightXpress cameras you have relatively few settings to tinker with (certainly nothing like the adjustment of USB speed that can help for CMOS cameras).

Some things you might try

* Set a longer exposure to see if that helps
* Use a short USB cable (no extensions/hubs)
* Try a smaller ROI
* If the camera has an interlaced sensor (like the Lodestar) then SharpCap will display a control for interlace options which you could adjust.

If none of that helps then please post a SharpCap log captured after the problem has happened, since that may contain clues as to why you are losing frames.

thanks,

Robin
