Post by john_robertson1953 »

Hi Robin,

See attached photo.

Do you know what’s causing blue casting on right side border?

-asi2600mc, cooled to 0°C, window heater On
-Live stack, Sharpcap, 438 frames@20sec, 300 gain, Bin2, Baader neodymium LP filter,
-Applied 4sec Dark Flats & Flats, 20sec Darks
-PI: WBPP, ABE

I appreciate any insight.
John

Hi,

can't give an exact answer from the info available, but the places to look are

* White balance controls in the camera controls on the right - how is the blue white balance control set? A value of 50 is neutral.
* Colour balance controls on the right of the live stacking histogram - how are they adjusted?
* Light pollution filter - is that blocking a considerable amount in the red/orange and allowing through the blue?
* Bayer matrix pattern - unlikely to be wrong, but if it is then under some circumstances the red and blue channels get swapped. Shine a red torch into the telescope and check the image goes red (red-ish, anyway) to check you have the right pattern.

cheers,

Robin
