Hi
What are the best general settings when polar aligning please?
Main scope is F6 600mm with 0.85 reducer and Altair 269C TEC.
Guide scope is standard (150?) with GPCAM2
Thanks
Ging

Re: Settings
Hi,
if you are using the guide scope/camera to align then I would suggest starting at 2s exposure, gain about 1000 or so. Make sure you can see stars in the image yourself and that the focus is decent (doesn't have to be perfect). 8 or 12 bit mode shouldn't really matter. If you have trouble seeing stars or having them detected by the polar alignment, go for higher gain or 4s exposures.
To be honest, the same settings would do fairly well for the main scope too
cheers,
Robin
