iOptron GEM45 display error

Post by ralf.horn »

Hello Sharpcap-Team,
I have a new mount, an iOptron GEM45.
So far it works with Sharpcap (just upgraded to latest version), but the position display in Sharpcap just shows strange numbers. They don't change when I slew the mount via Sharpcap (or another ASCOM-App).

Any idea? - Thank you in advance.

Hi Ralf,

yes, this is an odd one - no good reason for it to happen, but it does in SharpCap 4.0 (and started happening with an iOptron update...)

Two ways to work around

* Use SharpCap 4.1 beta - this uses a different way of talking to ASCOM that is unaffected by the issue

* Use the ASCOM Device Hub - set that up to talk to your iOptron , then SharpCap to talk to the device hub. That also fixes the issue.

cheers,

Robin

Hi Robin,

Ok, perfect! - works with the device hub. I‘ll use this for the time being until 4.1 is released.
Thank you very much for the quick response.

Bye & best regatds from Germany.
