Hi Robin,
Hope you are well? Just a quick question. I just bought an Altair 26c upgrading from my ZWO585mc. As this is a big jump and never having used a TEC camera before, when I run the Sensor Analysis do I run the cooling system or leave it off? I so, what temperature would I run it at?
Many thanks and love SharpCap!!!
Thanks, Jon

Re: Altair 26c and Sensor Analysis
Hi Jon,
glad you are a SharpCap fan!
It doesn't really matter about the cooling when you run the sensor analysis - the analysis keeps the exposure length down below 2s, so the impact of cooling is incredibly small. One thing to be aware of is to run it in both the normal 16 bit mode and the 16 bit 'ultra low noise' mode, since they give different results.
cheers,
Robin

Hi Robin,
Thanks for getting back to me so swiftly. Yes, there is something about Sharpcap that I find very intuitive unlike some of the others out there which I believe are overly complicated or have an unnecessary steep learning curve.Like this hobby needs it
. Settled on Sharpcap Pro and not looked back So thank you!!!
That's great thank you for letting me know. Yes, I will run both bit modes. I seem to recall that being mentioned on another post.
So generally when shooting DSO's I take it that I should be using the 'ultra low noise' mode for long exposures.
Many thanks

Hi,
yes, use ultra-low noise for deep sky or live stacking, as the only drawback really is a lower frame rate (but if you are taking exposures of a second or more you will not notice the difference).
cheers,
Robin
