Sharpcap with TheSky64 - Goto and Goto Coordinates Greyed Out

#1

Post by GaryS »

Good Morning...

I had connected the Paramount MX+ Mount and intended to have it sit in the background while I manage all my slews and Plate Solve 'centerings' via Sharpcap once I've disabled the TSX64 T-Point Model.

After using the MX+ and TheSkyX64 for homing, and an initial slew near the Zenith for focusing, I minimized TSX64, opened SC, connected devices, etc and went to the Tools drop-down to slew to my first observing target. Unfortunately, neither of the Tool options for getting to a target or specific coordinates, was functional - both greyed out.

So, I missed a setting somewhere that I hope you can point out for me. Its a bit of a struggle working with both these applications so I am hoping to mainly use SC for everything after I have homed the mount and done an initial focus - wish I could figure out the SC focus routine. Yes, I guess I will need to return to TSX64 to refocus whenever I change filters.

I'd appreciate it if someone can clue me in as to what setting I missed that prevented me from slewing in SC.
Thank you!

Hi Gary,

the first thing to check is that you had a camera open - for historic reasons, everything in SharpCap (apart from adjusting the settings) requires you to have a camera open before it is available. It sounds like you did, but worth checking :)

The goto co-ordinates menu item requires the following conditions to be met before activating

* Camera Open
* GOTO mount selected and connected (the connected check box near the mount movement controls must be ticked)

The goto image menu item further requires that a plate solving engine has been set up in the SharpCap settings.

Hopefully this info will point you in the right direction, if not please send a screenshot showing the mount control area in SharpCap on the right when the problem occurs and also a SharpCap log captured at the same time.

thanks,

Robin

Ok, the only possibility is that I had not yet checked the 'mount connect' box - that must be it.
Sorry to bother you...
