Gradient removal background subtraction

#1

Post by donstim »

Does the gradient removal tool also remove a constant background level from each frame? That is, does it in effect combine general background subtraction with removal of any gradients (differing background levels) in the frame? If so, does it use the blended type of offset or simple offset? Or does the gradient removal completely supplant the other background subtraction options?

Thanks,
Don

Hi Don,

yes, it will remove a constant background (at least bring the background to a fixed level which is not zero to avoid signal clipping, just as for the other background removal options). The subtraction mode is blended (I had to go check the code to be sure of that!)

cheers,

Robin
