ASI2400MC Pro flats

#1

Post by Mstraka606 »

I’m experiencing unusual results taking flats with the ASI2400MC Pro. System is Tak FSQ106 EDX4, ZWO filter drawer with NBZ Hutech Ha/Oiii filter. Two situations are highlighted in the images. 1) has “hot” middle and 2) flat . The difference between these two images is only selection of image capture as a flat (1) vs live view (2). All camera settings are identical. Any comments would be very much appreciated.

What is the result when you use the flats with stacking?
I know that sometimes the onscreen SharpCap screen can differ from the actual saved result.

Did the Live Stack case have a pre-existing Flat enabled in Pre-processing? That may explain why it’s mostly Flat corrected.
Cheers, Chris.

Hi,

if you already have a flat frame selected and start the 'Capture Flat' procedure, SharpCap will automatically disable the current flat, which will change the image. Make sure the live view image has 'None' selected for 'Apply Flat' to ensure that the views are comparable.

Don't forget that best results from flats are achieved by using either bias or dark flat subtraction - failure to do this can lead to flats over or under correcting.

cheers,

Robin

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the comments. I’m redoing the flats and will ensure that I’m starting from a clear sheet!
