Disk speed test

#1

Post by NeilG »

Robin,

I note that the current disk speed test tests the write speeds @ 1280x960, 1920x1080 and 3000x2000 frame sizes (when there is no camera actually connected) which I'm guessing correspond closely to some common camera sizes?

Given that the ZWO ASI 1600 and a few other cameras are now up at ~ 4650x3500 - any chance you could add another test for something of this size - or possibly even make the frame size for the test configurable?

thanks
Neil

The disk write speed test was (as you might have noticed) a bit of a quickly thrown together feature - starting out for my internal testing to find out if capture rates were being limited by disk speed or camera speed.

To be honest, the numbers are going to scale pretty evenly, so if you have double the number of pixels in your frame you will get half the frame rate (if 50fps @3000x2000-6Mp means 25fps @4000x3000 -12Mp) - this should let you calculate the likely rate for any size camera frame based on the tests you can already run.

One day I'll get a bit of time to tidy this up - thanks for the suggestion.

cheers,

Robin

Thanks robin, I was hoping it was a linear relationship.
