Last night it was tasking up to 30 secs for SharpCap to respond to instructions. Tonight it is just freezing up.
Can this be anything other than a not powerful enough laptop? Its a Pentium i3.

Re: Laptop freezes in SharpCap
Hi,
it's probably worth checking before buying a new laptop
Things to do...
* Run Windows Task Manager while SharpCap is being slow and see if it shows CPU usage at 100% or memory usage at/near 100% - that would indicate that the limits of the laptop are being reached
* Think about what features of SharpCap you are using when you have problems, for instance Live Stacking demands more resources than simply capturing images, which in turn demands more than just watching them without saving. Higher frame rates require more resources than lower ones, etc. It might be that you can identify what it is that is causing the problem and then work out a plan from there.
cheers,
Robin

Oh, one more thing...
Sometimes a camera that is misbehaving (poor USB connection, etc) can cause problems - SharpCap can end up sending commands to the camera that should take a fraction of a second but they instead take several seconds, leading to delays.
cheers

Re: Laptop freezes in SharpCap
Hello. My capture laptop is a Toshiba C50 - specs are i3, 8Gb RAM, 500Gb SATA2 drive, Win 10 64-bit. With SC 3.2 or 4.0 32-bit I have no performance issues. SER captures at 120fps using a Skyris 618M plus 5440x3648 16-bit FITS with an Altair 183C all with no issue.
If the laptop has worked previously, consider what has been changed. How does the laptop perform when Sharpcap is not running?
Dave

Are you saying yours works fine? I don't use it for anything other than Astro stuff. However as I explained to Robin it appear a window was open in the background that needed responding to.
