Hi Robin,

Apologies, I thought I'd responded earlier.

Many thanks for all your help in understanding these settings. I'm up at Galloway star camp this week and along with some advice from Derek, Jim and Peter mostly, I'm getting confident now with my exposure and gain choices.

Had a good all nighter Monday and then Tuesday till the winds picked up after midnight, rained off Wednesday and cloudy Thursday but we're predicted a good night tonight and tomorrow for those coming for the weekend which is nice. I got a good couple hrs of 5 min data on M51 but then wasted a couple hrs on 8 mins which blew out the core. Then Flame Tuesday came in nice but we worked out my flats needed redoing without the LPF to get the best out of the stack.

That and some good advice for processing, I'm realising the data I'm getting is mostly decent, I've just been lacking the processing skills to bring it out. Which has hindered me seeing the result of those 8 min subs being too long etc.

Just wanted to come back and say thank you for your help and advice, very much appreciated and glad there are people in this community like yourself and the crowd here, keen to help people starting out.

Jon.

glad to hear that it is all coming together :) Hope that you get some more clear skies at the star camp, and looking forward to seeing some of the images.

cheers,
