I had to go back to the 32 bit version of 4.0 to resolve a problem of connecting to a black cased Hitecastro stepper motor focus controller.
Running a ZWO ASI1600 mono camera I tried to user the exposure routine (the camera has had a sensor test in 4.0 64 bit and the file is seen on the desktop) but the camera exposure locked up and the exposure recommendation test failed.
Do I need to switch to an ASCOM driver to enable the exposure test to work?

Re: exposure self test in sequencer
Hi,
I think you may be talking about the deep sky background measurement routine having problems. If so, please make sure that you have an up-to-date version of SharpCap 4, since I recently (last month or so) made changes that reduce the chances of extremely long exposures being used as part of the measurement.
If the camera stops producing frames during the measurement procedure, it's more likely to be a USB connection issue rather than a 32/64 bit issue.
Finally, if you have a 32 bit only ASCOM driver, try using the 'Device hub focuser' option to make ASCOM run the problem driver in a separate process - that might just work around the issue.
cheers,
Robin

Re: exposure self test in sequencer
Apologies Robin the exposure set routine test in the sequencer is working on the 32 bit version. I ran a test with the cover on the scope and it ran a series of exposures trying to find the best black level gain etc.
However the Hitec astro focus will connect using the Ascom hub focuser but when commanded to move by clicking on the IN or OUT button the focuser moves and the then the IN and OUT buttons are greyed out and the Sharpcap screen locks. The only way I can recover the system is to do a reboot.
I have tried various timings using the slider on the ASCOM setup but it makes no difference.
No worries really as I have the focuser, camera and sequencer working in the 32 bit version.
