Feature Tracking and Solar Framing assistant issues

#1

Post by LanFeusT »

Hello,

I've been trying to use the Feature Tracking feature on the sun, but to no avail. During calibration I get "Failed due to bad measurements correlation from RA +ve"

Here's a link to all the logs:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharing

Additionally when trying the Solar Framing Assistant, the Calibration Speed dropdown is disabled and when I start it, it moves much too fast for me to click on the feature 2 seconds later as it's already out of frame.

Equipment:
iOptron CEM70G
ASI174MM
Explore Scientific 102ED (714mm f/l)
DayStar Quark Chromosphere (which includes a 4.2x barlow)

Software:
Windows 10
Sharpcap 4.0.8395.0

I've looked around but I haven't been able to find a solution. I used to have a Celestron AVX and had the exact same issue.

Would love to get some advice!

Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi,

I think that the starting point here is going to be SharpCap not dealing very well with the slew rates list that your mount makes available - that may limit the list of available rates or even stop there from being any at all (which would then tie in with the calibration speed drop down not being enabled and the movement being too fast).

Fortunately your log gives a list of the raw data that comes from the mount ASCOM driver, so I can have a play to work out what is going on.

I will report back...

cheers,

Robin

Hi,

so I had a look and as far as I can see the rates list from your mount *ought* to be interpreted properly by the current code. I did put some extra logging in and around that area, so if you could try the very latest version (4.0.8629) and post the logs again after you encounter any problems, that would be helpful.

cheers,
