Re: DSLR functionality
Robin, I have tried the Atik ASCOM driver with my Infinity camera using the latest Sharpcap software and there seems to be an issue with S/N. With the same exposure time as I use with the Infinity software the image in Sharpcap is way too dark even when adjusting the histogram. I much prefer to use the Infinity software with that camera.

Re: DSLR functionality
Hi Chris,
The Atik issue may be something quite simple like the scaling of the brightness in the frame being incorrect, but it's tricky to tell what as I don't have an Atik camera to test with. Would you be in a position to run the Ascom Conformance checker (http://ascom-standards.org/Developer/Conformance.htm) on the camera and post the results? They contain useful information like the below, which might just hold some clues
cheers,
Robin

Re: DSLR functionality
+1 for the DLSR functionality. It would be great if we could use a DSLR like we do a AP camera with Sharpcap, and Canon would be my first choice also. I am currently using a QHY163M and a T7i for OSC and AFAIK, there's nothing that can do the live stacking that Sharpcap does for a DSLR. Since they both have CMOS chips,
I think the live stacking would be my preferred feature, over the video. I did use Sharpcap to capture some videos of the sun today but that can be done with many applications, and then the frames stacked with software like AutoStakkert or Registax in a fairly automated fashion. But live stacking of images with dark frame subtraction I think is a very novel utility. The only other application I know that does live stacking is Starlight Live (which I've used extensively previously) and that only works on SX cameras. And since I started my AP/EAA with that, I find manual stacking using software like Nebulosity very cumbersome and not as good (in my hands) as the automagic live stacking that occurs in Sharpcap.

Re: DSLR functionality
Yet another +1 for dslr and sharpcap, like others I use byeos and astrotoaster and don't have any problems using it, but as chris says it would be good just to have one programme that can do it all.

Re: DSLR functionality
Thanks for the further feedback folks.
Sadly the support for Canon DSLRs is not going to make it into the next (3.1) release purely because it would delay the release too much. Hopefully I will find time to do it for SharpCap 3.2.
Just to give an indication, I'm hoping to make a public beta of 3.1 available at around the time of the IAS show (mid october, http://www.ukastroshow.com/).
cheers,
Robin

Re: DSLR functionality
+1 for DSLR functionality. I have the Canon T5i..
Would open up worlds of convenience and functionality if this was supported in SharpCap.
Thanks!

Re: DSLR functionality
+1 for Canon functionality! I'm a newbie getting started on astrophotography & electronically-assisted astronomy. I just got a Canon 100D and would love to use it with SharpCap. It is such an impressive program! I would certainly buy the Pro version to get the polar alignment, live stacking, and all the other cool capabilities. Till then I will need to work with Backyard EOS & AstroTortilla, which is a good solution but not nearly as elegant as SharpCap. I'm not even sure I can get it all figured out before Canon support in SharpCap, which looks like it's coming soon.
I am mainly interested in relatively long exposure DSO stacking right now, mostly because I don't have a view to the ecliptic from my garden.

Re: DSLR functionality
<bump> for Canon DSLR support next. There may be an even larger community of users with this. Thanks!
