The settings were for 3% noise, 5hr stack, max 7 minutes min 30seconds

The system went to a 1000 second exposure after many very small exposures completed. On completion of the exposure it started another.
I canceled and reloaded, this did the usual shorter exposures but at 30 seconds it just repeated ad nauseum - no result. Repeated.

Eventually I got a result of 45 second exposure at 115 gain I think, odd considering I had an Ha filter in front of the OSC camera.

Thanks

Tried again tonight, just goes through the exposures until 30 seconds and then just takes multiple exposures with no result. Couldn't cancel it. Had to reload Sharpcap to try again with an estimated sky brightness figure entered. The calculation worked.

Hi,

If I understand you correctly, the sky brightness measurement isn't completing correctly or is potentially completing but giving misleading results.

If you are using narrowband filters then I would certainly expect the measurement to use longer exposures than normal, although 1000 seconds does seem excessive unless you happen to also have very dark skies.

An alternative to measuring the sky brightness would be to use the estimated value based on your camera, telescope and light pollution levels – I have a calculator online here - http://tools.sharpcap.co.uk/ - that can do the calculation for you.

Robin

I am in bortle 3 area. Last night I just had an IR/UV cut filter. It ran 10 x 30 second exposures and still no result.

thanks

Hi,

I will have to put some more logging in that part of the program so that I can track what is happening when it goes wrong. Look out for the next update.

Hi, Robin,
May be one more bug...

When I'm imaging with LiveStack some dark scene (with narrow filter for example) and switching histogram in LiveStack window in logarithmic mode, I see that it happens something wrong with its left slider. Namely: when I press "Reset" bottom this slider jumps to its right position (to the left wall of diagram) and the picture becomes adequate its position well (dark background becomes visible). But when I move it by my mouse, it behaves abnormally: I never can clasp it to the left wall, or, more exactly, I can clasp it to the left wall, but a picture no more meets its position correctly - dark background never becomes visible.

Result: When I imaging with LiveStack some dark scene, I never can see it on my screen correctly. Only two choice: either a total black background or visible gray background but in such case I can't shift a middle slider to the left any strong (all becomes white)...

Robin, please check this situation.
Sincerely yours,
Anton

Hi Anton,

Please can you share a screenshot showing the problem and the log file. I can't seem to reproduce anything like the problem you describe, so I need a bit more information.

Ok, Robin. I'll try to do it during some night, when I be working with narrow filters.
