Another beginner question

After taking some images for 10 or 30 secs, I am unable to stack because there are no stars to stack. I know I am confused about the gain setting. I have tried to expose for 1.5, 5 and 10 secs but I think i'm reading the gain scale wrong. here is a sample of what i'm doing.
