Weird Ha data

Post by sooty »

I'm using the latest version of Sharpcap Pro,along with a ZWO 294MC Pro.
Last night i shot over 2hrs worth of data on IC63,the Ghost of Cassiopiea.
I then attempted to add some Ha with a Altair 7nm filter, but the resulting image came out green!
Stacked as i normally do in DSS.Thanks in advance for any solution/help.

Hi,

the only thing I can think of is perhaps the wrong settings when debayering the Ha images? Obviously Ha should only be in the red channel, but if the bayer pattern of the image was RGGB but instead you used (say) GBRG, you would get a green image I think..

cheers,

Robin

Hi Sooty

I don't know your DSS knowledge, so just in case :)
In DSS, did you stack with Use Per channel background calibration or with Use RGB background calibration?
The first option, when unprocessed, will produce green images because the backgrounds will match the background of the reference frame and that is leaning very heavy in the green with Zwo camera's.

Thanks guys.
Just had another go at stacking the Ha subs, the pic below is the image i get when just selecting the Red channel. No dark frames were added.
Sorry Menno, just seen your post,i imagine it's the default option,as i never changed anything other than the Bayer pattern.
When looking at a fits file in Fits Liberator,i get the following_ BAYERPAT= 'RGGB / Try GBRG if image upside down or R/B swapped.
Does that mean if i rotate the camera for framing, the Bayer pattern changes?

David.
