How to reject frames during live stacking

#1

Post by Yourjones »

Hello

Newbie here. I love the live stacking feature of SharpCap. My modest imaging system hence becomes a workhorse!

When I do live stacking however, there might suddenly be a satellite dashing across my screen, leaving a trace that can never be averaged out by later frames. How can I prevent this from happening? Is there a way to delete the frame in question?

Thanks!

Hi Lu,

no way to delete the frames at the moment, but SharpCap has a stacking mode called 'Sigma Clipped' which will exclude satellite trails if they happen after about the first 10 frames or so. It does this by spotting that the pixel values in the satellite trail are very different from the values collected so far in that area of the image. See https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/4.0/#Stacking%20Tab

thanks,

Thank you Robin for your prompt reply.

I understand Sigma Clipping is what I need in the Pro version. By the way, great pleasure to have words with you!

Best regards

Lu
