Greetings: I am considering purchasing a dual narrow band filter (optolong l-extreme) to use on emission nebulae. Am wondering if the reduction in star light through this filter will make plate solving and focusing functions in sharpcap much more difficult. Does anyone have experience with this scenario? Thanks.

I'm almost certain it will not make it much more difficult. You only have a bit longer exposure time for plate solving. There where you can plate solve with a 3 second capture normally, you have to do 5 seconds (for example) with a narrowband filter.

I think it's the same principle. But a bright star of mag 2 will not have much trouble with the L-Extreme.
Having said that, I've never used the focus functions of SharpCap. I use a Bahtinov mask and the Bahtinov Grabber software for focussing.
