I've certainly been thinking about future update which will also consider the brighter parts of the image when making suggestions for exposure – you want a good range of stars to be saturated or close to saturation and this could set a minimum exposure suggested limit.
I'm really not sure about the dynamic range/brightness thing – it's not something I've ever considered before.
