Can you use the hand controller with SkySafari

#1

Post by psy1280 »

I have a Celestron Evolution 8" and I typically use SkyPortal and SkySafari (which has become problematic lately), I find the directional buttons on the app difficult to use, especially when trying to center a star for calibration, etc., does anyone know if it's possible to use the hand controller while using these apps? I recall being told you can't use both. It would be so much easier to be able to use the hand controller.

Thank you,
Joe

I'm afraid I haven't used a Celestron mount for so long that I have no idea with the latest Celestron software whether this is possible or not. Hopefully we have some people here on the forums who do have experience with this and can answer the question.

Yes, you can use the directional buttons on the hand controller to slew the mount regardless of what application you used to align the mount. Just don't try to use the HC for anything else!
