Why does a 5second video take 20seconds to play?

I capture 5 seconds of AVI video in Sharpcap (I verify it's only 5 seconds) but when played back it takes 21 seconds to play. In fact all videos play back at about 4 times their actual length.

When I hover over the video file in windows explorer it even reports the video length to be 21 seconds.

Hi,

I think that SharpCap sets a fixed frame rate for the playback – from memory that's 30 frames per second I think. That means that if your frame rate is higher than that the AVI will take longer than expected to playback and if it's lower then it will playback quicker than expected. I believe that SER files will playback at the correct rate as each individual frame is stored with the timestamp that allows the playback software to correctly identify the frame rate.

Cheers, Robin
