For Planetary imaging do you use AVI files, if this is the case on the Camera Control Panel do you use frames per second as it is a video and what setting would you use to take a image of a planet.
If you use FITS files on the out put format in the Camera Control Panel, do you use frame rate like 1 every 2 seconds as I believe it is taking still image is that correct? Believe this is for DSO is that correct?
I believe you can go up to 1 every 30 seconds for unguided mounts. Does this mean my ZWO ASI camera takes 30 seconds to take the photo, like opening the shutter of a DSL camera for 30 seconds. Sorry new to all this

For lunar/planetary SER is the preferred capture format.

I have a Celestron AVX equatorial mount. With that I regularly do 60s unguided with a 4kg payload. With less payload (small refractor) I can manage at least 120s unguided (up to 180s). The maximum single exposure and total exposure will depend on your mount specs, polar alignment and mount alignment.

Yes a 30s exposure is like opening the DSLR shutter for 30s.
